Ancaster is home to the Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum. It boasts stunning grounds and an expertly curated museum with changing exhibits.
Currently you can explore Stories From the Edge, an exhibition celebrating the history of Ancaster. Set on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, with a bounty of water and resources, Ancaster has attracted humans since the retreat of the last glacier over 10,000 years ago. Using 31 stories and artifacts, one for every year the museum has been open, this exhibition offers snapshots of Ancaster’s history from the earliest human occupants to present day.

Also this year during Ancaster Heritage Days on June 11, Fieldcote Memorial Museum and the Hamilton Children's Museum are teaming up to host free events at the Old Town Hall in Ancaster and at the museum. The exhibit at the Old Town Hall will be outdoors featuring the BIG BLUE BLOCKS for creative building and play!

BIG BLUE BLOCKS
Ancaster's story begins on Treaty 3 (1792) land: the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee Six Nations People. The town founded in 1793 and was a significant centre in late 18th and early 19th century British Upper Canada. Both of these rich aspects of the area's history -- its Indigenous and settler pasts -- can be experienced in the surrounding natural beauty of the escarpment, valley, forests, farmland, and in the village core of old Ancaster featuring its stunning architecture.
